The Old School House is on the B6260 road between Tebay/Junction 38 of the M6 and Appleby-in-Westmorland.
It is roughly the sixth house on the left side (on a lay-by opposite fields) as you travel north into Orton from Tebay. If you get to the Petty Hall and The George pub then you have gone too far.
If you are travelling from the north, take Junction 39 Shap off the M6 and take the Orton road (B6261) which is a left turn just off the motorway link road. Follow the road through the village, past the Post Office. At The George Hotel turn right and The Old School House is about 100 metres south on your right on the large lay-by.
Orton has all the benefits of nestling between two National Parks – the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales - with a stunning local landscape, great motorway access and a strong community. We still have a well-stocked local shop and Post Office and a pub and there is great walking and cycling from the doorstep.
